Rogue Brewery Newport OR
I sense a theme developing here... my beer drinking buddy REALLY enjoyed the "after tour".... |
I heard about the Volvo plant in Sweden, might add that to the list.
|
US mint in Denver
Mercier champagne cellars in Reims slightly off topic but I always enjoy mining tours Gold near Johannesburg, coal in Pennsylvania and slate and copper in North Wales. |
Yuenling brewery tour in Pottsville PA. America's oldest brewery.
|
In Hanover PA, which isnt close to much, you can tour the Utz Potato Chip factory, and the Snyders of Hanover Pretzel and Chip factory. Massive fun for the kids. Free samples and if your lucky, warm salted chips from the end of the assembly line. there is a Harley Davidson Factory close by as well.
|
Highly recommend the Carlsberg brewery tour in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A little bit touristy but interesting nevertheless plus you try a number of free samples at the end of the tour |
basically any brewery is fun, as are most cookie factories. Cheese factories, not so much.
The Corvette factory was enjoyable too, as was the Harley factory in Milwaukee. |

Among bigger alcohol producers, I liked Freixenet tour near Barcelona. They had converted their old facilities to a museum but the tour included also the current production facilities where they actually make their sparkling wine. But in general smaller wineries, breweries, distilleries etc are more interesting. |
I enjoyed the tour at the Chevrolet Corvette factory in Bowling Green Kentucky.
Mych |
The Gibson Guitar factory tour in Nashville is awesome.
|
The Bacardi tour in San Juan includes two free drinks!
Beyond that, I would distinguish between complimentary tours and those which charge (some handsomely) for the experience. Barclay was free, but as I recall, Boeing charges a lot? |
New Belgium Brewery tour in Fort Collins, Colorado. Make a reservation though.

BMW 3-Series Factory Tour in Munich, but they book up way in advance

Made even more special if you add on European Delivery of a BMW, which is what we did last year. (bonus, it's cheaper than in the US!) I suspect one reason the tours will up is that people doing delivery get to the top of the list (we had to reserve at the time we signed the P.O. for the car). Everyone we talked to on our tour was doing a delivery. |
