757 TATL?
Perhaps I'm a little late to the "game", but our flight from JFK to ARN has just been changed from a 767 to a 757. IMO 757's are fine for a flight of a few hours or so, but how is it on a TATL of 8 hours? We did use miles to fly business, but I'm curious about the size of the plane for a TATL. Thoughts?

is it aq flatbed? seen one flatbed, seen them all. we have done 747, 777, and 767 with ua in flatbed. all the same. would do a 757 if they had a flat bed. what do you think the difference would be after
3 hrs?
3 hrs?

We're flying Delta and I don't think it's equipped with flatbeds - there are only 7 rows, or so, of business (no 1st) with coach being 3 and 3 with one aisle. I'm a big fan of the 777, there is space to walk around and stretch one's legs.

Delta TATL 757s do not have flat beds. With that said, they are equipped with fairly comfortable recliner seats in J which have legrests and a good amount of space. Many airlines now use 757s on TATL flights. While the aircraft is smaller and does only have one aisle, there's nothing abnormal about this. You can still get up and walk up and down the aisle if you like.

TATL from the east coast isn't terribly much longer than east coast to/from the west coast and we do that regularly on 757's.
Certainly it's nicer to have the widebody but I'm sure it'll be fine.
Question - how does a 757 compare in size to a 707? Those were regularly plying the transatlantic sectors in the old days.
Heck, when I was a tot, we went transpacific in a 707, granted, we hopped across with stops in Hawaii and/or Anchorage and then Tokyo or Seoul.

757 TATL?
Just say no. I would not fly in an angled biz class seat for TATL if at all avoidable, nor would I fly on a long single aisle 757. There are better planes to spend your miles on. Call DL and deman they rebook you on a proper plane.

On the other hand, westbound ARN-JFK is quite close to 757's maximum range because of the headwinds. If the headwinds are bad enough, there can be a fuel stop somewhere. Maybe it is worth it to look another options for the way back.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. Regarding flatbeds, after recently flying Virgin Atlantic with their new UC configuration with smaller lay-flat seats, I'll take the large reclining business class type seat any day. Our trip originates from IAD and there are no other award seats (at this time) on Delta other than those going through JFK. Our trip is in June (yes, I like to plan ahead) so something else may open up. I'll continue to check. Also, we're returning via CPH on a 767.

Be very careful with looking at DL 757 seat maps. While a number are configured with BusinessElite, I have had a domestic F subbed in for TATL J. There is a *huge* difference in recline/pitch. You want a 757 with 4 rows. 6 usually means domestic F.
This is the only 6 row configuration that has a proper BE seat: http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Del...-200ER_75A.php
