Hotel minimum check-in age...

A bit of an ambiguous question coming up. I'm booked to stay at a Comfort Inn hotel near Boston in a few weeks.

When I booked it was the best of the moderately priced hotels, and now it's one of the least expensive but still expensive options out of the Boston hotel catalogue.

Anyway, the minimum check-in age is 21 and I'm 20. The minimum check-in age wasn't stated on the Hotels.com/Expedia booking page when I booked nor can I find it on the hotel site now.

I'm stumped between owning up or just turning up on the day. I'm blessed with looking much older than I am.. But I can cancel now for a 100% refund.

Any suggestions? Should I get in contact with the hotel, can they remove the booze?... ;) or?

I honestly think you'll be fine. Just check-in as per usual, hand them your credit card + booking reference; and ID if they ask - I really don't think they'll look at your birthday etc, just whether your details match up. I've gotten away with this quite a few times in the USA - and I also guess dressing appropriately helps your cause as well (I was dressed in a long sleeve shirt + dress pants for a conference), but I digress.

Best of luck!

No guarantees, but as long as you don't show up with a group of people and look like you're going to turn it into a party room you should be okay.

Unless you look to be about 12, I can't see the desk clerk looking hard enough to find out. Of course, if you're checking in without a CC, his/her evaluation might be more extensive. Dress like you're a new college grad in town for a job interview, not coming in for a Rave.

Act like your are 21 and you will likely be trearted as though you are. But, have a backup plan. If the hotel is overbooked, this is a way to free up a room.

Try to have a couple back up hotels nearby just in case, but I don't think it will be a problem. I've been checking into hotels myself ever since I turned 18 and never had a problem.

Thanks. Will take a look at back ups- although the majority of hotels are stated over 21s only.

I have stayed in a few hotels in the northeast on my own when I was 17... no problems whatsoever ;) .

I'm 19 (close to 20) and have never been stopped checking into a hotel (with a published 21 check in age) on my own. I've been doing it since 1.5 years ago.

I second that as long as you have a valid credit card and valid ID, you should be fine. Dressing up should help. If you look much older, then you really shouldn't have a problem.

I've stayed in hotels (under my name) and have had the booze still in the minibar. Once I had a friend (also under 21) over who lifted one of the bottles to look at it, put it back, and the hotel wanted to charge me for it.

Wait...how do you know that the minimum check-in age is 21 if it's not listed anywhere as the first post says?

Did you call the hotel?

Also, which Comfort Inn near Boston? Perhaps someone could be more specific knowing the property.
