Visa while in transit?
I recently had a disastrous journey from IAH-LOS-ACC in which we almost didn't make it on the plane in Houston because we didn't have Nigerian visas. I had personally made this trip a month before, and had employees fly it 10 days before, and it had never been a problem before. Can someone please confirm the correct policy here?
If my ongoing airline (Arik air) is not a partner of United, do I truly HAVE to have a visa just to transit Lagos? Thanks. |
Apparently you don't need a visa for a layover of <24hrs, there are a few threads on this already eg: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...f-you-can.html

Nigeria visa policy is a moving goalpost subject to random interpretation on the day of departure.
Official policy is that TWOV is permitted, but try convincing a self-righteous Nigerian official about that. A note from Benjamin Franklin often helps. Don't stress yourself over it. Que sera sera. PS. If you're in Accra, drop me a PM and I'd be happy to meet up for a beer! |
Thanks
Thanks for the replies. Here's my issue: United officials wouldn't even let me check luggage or almost even get on the plane the last time I tried this. So dealing with Nigerian side (with help from Ben Franklin even) is not my issue. It's being allowed on the flight on the first place without having a Nigerian visa.

Nigeria (NG)
TWOV (Transit Without Visa): Visa required, except for Holders of confirmed onward tickets for a max. transit For details, click here time of 24 hours. go to this link, and print the whole thing that comes out when you input, nationality/connecting/destination http://www.united.com/web/en-US/apps...t/default.aspx |
I believe this is what I needed. Thanks!

R32) TWOV Code:
