Look on FA's faces priceless
Yesterday a few minutes before the boarding of JFK/ORD an older man shows up and gets in the PA lane. But this guy who looks to be 70 or so has dyed blue and blond hair with a ponytail down to his waist, large earrings, an outfit that can only be described as a cross between pajamas, a bad clown outfit, and what I Dream of Jeannie wore, and black combat boots. Wella when F is called he goes rushing the card reader and he is in fact in F. He runs downs the jetway like the a/c is going to leave without him.
I am behind him and the one FA almost drops the tray she is handling in a state of shock. The other FA as I'm boarding grabs my arm and says "I'm seeing this right?" The guy settles into 6A. Thank god I had changed to a bulkhead seat or I would have been next to him. And the clincher was when the FA comes up to me later and said "my god, I checked the manifest and he is an EXP." Add to that two young guys (20s) that show up in F and despite the 55 degree weather and going to ORD (and not MIA or SJU) are both wearing tank tops. |

It's threads like these that makes me think FT isn't really a community-building forum anymore. :td: |

Huh? What is the point of this thread? Elitism rearing its ugly head.

NEVER judge a book by its cover.

LOOK ON FAs FACES PRICELESS
If you see a young guy in F on a Sunday morning with bright blue or purple hair, a t-shirt and baggy jeans, it's me. Say hi, I'm pretty nice.
I fly across the country to attend saturday night concerts when I can. Sometimes I buy F, sometimes I upgrade. |
Certainly rather out-of-the-ordinary dress, and likely to turn some heads. Traveling on a commercial airline might not be the best place to express one's individuality in this manner, IMHO. It might be a shame, but it is the reality.
ACTUALLY....I take less issue with the guy who dresses in an eccentric manner than with the 20s guys dressed in tank tops, or the people who wear sweatclothes or tiny shorts with "juicy" on the butt. I think it is disrespectful to fellow pax and the airline staff and crews to dress like you are in your living room. But I tend to be rather conservative in my outlook on dress. Frankly, I like to look as much as possible like the other late-20s professionals on the flight so that I will be treated professionally (especially because I look younger than I am). But a seventy-year-old guy wouldn't have to worry about that. He probably just doesn't give a damn and will dress however he wants. |

Ugh. Convention-flouters destabilizing the status quo are just the worst! Clutching my pearls as I faint.

every one is weird but you & me, but sometimes i'm not sure about you!

I am "normal" looking but you probably don't want to sit next to me!

I ALSO HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO STAND OUT FOR NO GOOD REASON. SUCH AS A SHOUTING TITLE.
Of all the threads not deserving an ALL CAPS title, this is it. |
Sounds like an aging rocker. They can wear whatever I want for all I care. The only two rockers that I think are aging well are Jimmy Page and Robert Fripp.
