Beyond The Game
Has anybody been on this trip before? I am thinking of taking the trip with my family at the end of this month, and all the proceeds go to charity which is great, the price is fairly reasonable - $1000 + airfare.
If anybody has been on this trip before I would love to get in contact with you, as we are looking to book our airfare soon  http://www.beyondthegametravel.com/ |

If anybody has been on this trip before I would love to get in contact with you, as we are looking to book our airfare soon  http://www.beyondthegametravel.com/ In the US, you wouldn't be able to take a tax deduction for the cost of the trip, just the portion of the donation (if you are paying the money to a 501c3) that exceeds the value you're receiving from the trip. So if the trip price is $1200 and you're receiving $1150 of value, then you can only deduct the $50. There's nothing to indicate that Beyond the Game Travel is a US-registered charity. They say they're partnering with a Dominican charity, and US tax laws also forbid you from taking a charitable deduction for donations to foreign charities. Finally, let's say the trip costs $1000. Do you really think the agency is donating $1000 to a charity and then taking $1000 out of its own pocket to pay for the cost of your trip? |
