Hi brandiEm,
Welcome to FlyerTalk! Generally speaking, you will be more comfortable on Airbus (IIRC most airlines run A330/A340s on transatlantic routes). Both Airbusses are wide bodies, thus offering a bit more room than a 757.

Hi brandiEm and let me add my welcome to FlyerTalk!

We're going to move your thread to TravelBuzz! where travel questions of a somewhat general nature are handled.

Happy Travels.

I agree, I think you will be much more comfortable on an Airbus. Do you know which one it is? And who the airline is that you would travel with?

I've traveled on a 757 across the country with American Airlines and it was not very comfortable at all. I was definitely ready to get off it after 6 hours. Or after 1 for that matter. I haven't traveled on an Airbus A330/340 but have on the A380 and it is definitely more comfortable than a 757 or even the 747 I flew on. Good luck!

Uh ... the A380 is kinda out of the league of both 757 and the other Airbusses . :)

However, I would recommend either the 330 or 340 in preference to the 757, unless it's one of those all-biz carriers.

Better how? Comfort-wise? They're probably about the same in biz class, and for economy class -- it depends.

This is very true. The A380 is a much different fish...er...bird than just about anything else out there.

But I'm one of those nutter wannabes who likes to do research on the various jets and learn the ins and outs of each jet, especially the economy classes, and in general the Airbusses seem to be better than the 757.

Safety is not even something that is applicable here. You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning walking in your front yard than being in an aircraft accident. The only time I would be concerned about safety is if you were flying on a Russian aircraft operated by a third world country or something ridiculous like that.

You're usually at more risk driving to the airport than flying.

try a basic search on kayak.com - that will give you an idea of fares etc.
