empty F cabin

I am in the middle of my Star Alliance mini-RTW trip, and thus far have flown YUL-ZRH on LX F, and FCO-BKK on TG F.

On both flights, the F cabin was empty except for the wife and I.

Although, it was nice having the entire cabin to ourselves, and having 2 flight attendants serving the 2 of us. It kinda feel weird also, to being up there by ourselves.

Is this a sign of the economy, that people are not flying in F as much?

I have 2 more legs in F left in my trip, HKG-FRA in LH F and FRA-ORD in LH F.

Probably the HKG-FRA will have more travelers in F?

wife and i flew back and forth iad-europe)a number of times in C and in row 8 on UA 777's. ( front row). could see the only occupant of F. the pilot doing nap time. could never get an ug.

i recently tried to get those seats with miles. first, the ua site is a horrer story trying to book iad-vce, and no F available. so we are on austrian in C.

i just checked iad-fra on 1/10 is mt, the return on 17th has one seat blocked, which is probably the pilot bed.

I would say it is the sign of a good airline that doesn't fill the F cabin with people that don't really belong up there.

In addition, it keeps the cabin really personal, and allows for attentive service.

You get what you pay for with the top airlines in the world;)

Just a thought but if the cabin is truly empty there's no reason for the airline to allow a few non-revs in [i.e. miles or certs] in and thus have to staff / cater it. Granted I'd take F with C service on many planes without a complaint.

that sounds like such a good idea. too bad UA fills the transatlantic biz class with non-rev employees and relations who talk in loud voices about where they have been stationed for the last 6 months. if the non rev cannot make it to the front of the plane, once airborn, they come up in the biz cabin, hang on the back of your seat, and talk to the person in the middle seat. asking the
FA's to clear the trash out only gets eye rolls.
