Lounge behaviour

Sitting in a certain airline lounge (it's not important which one) in T6 at LAX.

Upon entry, a fellow traveller was greatly displeased his Double Obsidian Select card did not grant him acess, despite the fact it hasn't done so several months, and expressed disbelief that a "high net worth individual" such as himself couldn't get in with his (presumably) high net worth credit card.

I'm a low net worth individual myself and saw fit to buy a lounge membership. Maybe that's why I'm low net worth, though, since I spent my hard earned cash on such memberships.

After High Net Worth finished talking his way in, I was confronted with someone I can only presume is a member sleeping immediately after the lobby. His combination of a sofa and chairs is somewhat ingenious.

I can count amongst my blessings that Sleeping Member's sleep angle is ameliorating what could be quite sonorous log-sawing; otherwise, I wouldn't be able to enjoy a Lenoard Cohen song to help get me in the spirit of the season.

I am quite disturbed that he was able to talk himself in, not because he wasn't eligible but because he was arrogant about it.

Is it possible he bought a day pass?

No, and the passenger was not interested in a day pass.

The agent did encourage the passenger to sign up for the Presidential Plus card. If High Net Worth does that it will probably make much more money for United than a $19 day pass for an AmEx refugee would.

So, how did he talk his way in? Did the agent just tire of being badgered?
