15. (1972) There are plenty of large, four engine jetliners flying between Delhi and London. While shuttling back and forth to private school in England, you reckon you’ve flown them all over the past couple of years. But, as one who appreciates vintage aircraft as well as the finer things in life, you’re thrilled to discover that you can fly in First Class aboard a Caravelle utilizing the same airline all the way through to London with just a single 1:05 connection enroute. As an added bonus, the flight operates on Sunday which will allow you to get back in plenty of time for Monday morning’s assembly. Your departure from Delhi will make one stop while your connecting flight onward to London (LHR) will also make one stop. Identify the airline and the routing for this trip.
What about Alia of Jordan, operating Delhi-Dhahran-Amman-Rome-London with a Caravelle 10R (the P&W JT8D-powered version)

Whut tha… even LA’s not available! żQué pasa con estos pinche horarios de las aerolíneas?! Okay, okay… here’s a possibility. You’ll take a one-stop direct flight to airport A where you’ll transfer to a well-timed bus that’ll take you to airport B 25 miles away. From there it’ll be nonstop to Guadalajara. Unfortunately, neither flight offers a First Class cabin so you’ll have to sit behind the curtain all the way through. Esta bien. Book it, Pedro! Please identify both airlines, the three enroute airports involved and the two different aircraft types.

How about WN COS-LAS-SAN 737, then bus across the border, then MX TIJ-GDL 72S?

You're off to a great start here Herb with most of the itinerary correct - but the first flight did not route through LAS and it was not operated by Southwest. Tijuana is of course correct, but we're looking for a different 72S operator down to GDL. No problema para ti!

21. (2001) You need to fly from Los Angeles to Manchester, New Hampshire next week. You’ve found an interesting routing involving two nonstop flights - each over 1000 miles in length. Two airlines will be employed, each operating a different variant of the same aircraft model. Identify the route, the two airlines and the aircraft types.

Revised guess that would be plausible very late in 2001:
AA LAX-STL 738
WN STL-MHT 73G

You're partially correct here inasmuch as Southwest and its 737-700 handle the final leg into MHT. However, the flight does not route through STL.

Additionally, AA and the 738 are not part of this answer.

Perhaps your first guess? (I never did see it posted here...)

Deleted the first guess which was an MCI connection and WN on both segments after I read the clue more carefully and saw that two airlines were involved.

The MCI connection still makes a lot of sense with the over 1000 miles from MHT requirement.

So, guess #2 #3 shall be:
Vanguard LAX-MCI 737-200
WN MCI-MHT 737-700

You've got the correctly powered version but the wrong airline and route.

10. Wild guess time here.....and technically speaking, my guess involves two air carriers but they used the same two letter airline code for their respective flights.

So with that caveat in place, I'll guess American Eagle (actually operated by Executive Airlines which was based in Puerto Rico) flying an ATR-72 nonstop from Bonaire to San Juan with a connection to an American B757-200 for the nonstop service from San Juan to Los Angeles.

Well what about their near neighbour, Syrian Arab ? I seem to remember them being an early user of the new airport at Dubai, and also their London flights long ran through the unusual point of Munich. So, Syrian Arab, runnung Delhi-Dubai-Damascus-Munich-London. They had a different version of the Caravelle (as we're precise about versions), the 10B, the original Super Caravelle, with P&W engines, a fuselage extension, and lots of aerodynamic changes. Alia had the "hot rod" 10R version which came a bit later, back to the original standard Caravelle fuselage, but with the new engines and wing changes.

Oooooo - a rare miss from JL ! And hey - I didn't know AA ever flew SJU-LAX! But then there's so much I don't know... One thing I do know though is that we're looking for a different airline operating over a different route with both segments operated by mainline equipment. I expect your next guess will be much more accurate...

Syrian Arab Airlines is correct! as is the route through Dubai. However, per the schedule I referenced for this question, the European stop between Damascus and London was not Munich. That said, I reckon we're in tap-in country here...

Quick question though - Why Munich? It's not an enroute European stop that I recall seeing nearly as often as what - for me at least - seem the usual airports such as ATH, FCO, FRA, ORY/CDG, ZRH. Was there a significant Syrian immigrant community in Munich back then?

Eminently plausible, but no. We're looking for a different airline and aircraft via a TWO stop routing.

So allowed. Air Jamaica is correct! as is your routing, however the aircraft operating the MBJ-LAX sector was not an A300. And if it's not an A300, then it must be a... well, in 2001 ... hold that thought. I was going to provide the answer but a quick check of JM's historic fleet list suggests there are a couple of options here, so I'll leave that to you. Tap in time?

Moving right along...

4. (1994)
Your business has you traveling often between Colorado Springs and Guadalajara. Normally you make the connection through Dallas but for some reason all DFW-GDL flights - what of them there are - are sold out on the day you need to travel. What about Houston? Nope.
Routes through SAN/TIJ via 73S and 72S. We're still looking for correct airlines and enroute stop COS-XXX-SAN

5. (1993) It’s the first weekend of football season and your brother the neurosurgeon has called to invite you to join him at Soldier Field for Da Bear’s home opener against the New York Giants. 6. (1989) A life of retirement in the Bahamas sure is nice, but even you can take only so much sun and surf every day. It’s time to switch it out for a bit of sun and snow in the Colorado Rockies. When you made this trip from Nassau last year, Delta offered a nice connection through Atlanta into Denver. Alas, neither Delta option is available for this trip. Instead, you’ve got a choice of online connections utilizing an all-economy class airline or one that offers a First Class cabin all the way through to DEN. You’ll take the First Class option, thanks. You know the drill by now. Please identify the usual triumvirate of details.
A N S W E R E D

7. (1972) You’ve just completed work on a new irrigation project in Somalia and now are headed to Athens, Greece for a well-deserved three day respite before continuing on to your next job. No matter where you’re flying to, there are not a lot of options out of Mogadishu. Alitalia runs a couple of flights per week up to Rome, but not on the days that work best for you. But hey - what’s this? Here’s a connection all the way through on the same airline. You’ll have a one stop flight to the connection point followed by a nonstop into Athens. The aircraft type will remain the same all the way through. Please identify the airline, routing and aircraft type.
It's not MEA nor a 720 but CAI is in the routing

8. (1992) Few things could be finer than a week in February in the Canary Islands, so the thought of having to return home to comparatively cool and cloudy Leeds is not such a happy one. At least you’ll be able to get there relatively quickly via a couple of nonstop flights and a single connection. Two airlines are involved, each operating the same type of aircraft. Airlines, connection point and aircraft please.

9. (1991) You’ve just finished consulting on the new high-speed quad chairlift to be installed at Snowmass and Aspen Mountain and now you’re off for similar consultations at Vermont’s Sugarbush Resort. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has thrown a wrench in the works with a spring blizzard along the Front Range that has shut down Denver’s Stapleton International. No problem, aren’t there a couple of flights through Chicago? Yes, but only on the weekends and tomorrow’s Thursday. Well jeez, what airlines fly into Burlington anyway? Your agent patiently taps away at her computer and voila - there IS another way - a three flight journey involving two connections with all flights aboard the same airline. Your flight out of Aspen will be on a regional jet followed by two mainstream jets. Identify the airline, routing and aircraft please.
Please see post #24595

10. (2001) After a thoroughly enjoyable month spent filming a documentary about steel drum music, its history and styles around the Caribbean, it’s time to return home to Los Angeles from your final filming location on Bonaire. You’ve found a surprisingly convenient connection involving two nonstop flights via a single connection on the same airline. Two different aircraft types will be involved. Are you up for this one? Of course you are! Please identify all the usual stuff.
A N S W E R E D

11. (1995) As you’re heading out to the airport in the middle of the night, you can’t help but wonder how many - if any - have ever had a need to fly between Durango, Mexico and Regina, Canada. Stifling a yawn, you ponder the day ahead - a total of three nonstop flights aboard three different airlines utilizing three different types of jets - two of them built by the same aircraft manufacturer. Identify the three airlines, the routing flown and the aircraft types involved.

16. (1992) It used to be that getting from Gothenburg, Sweden to South Florida in the winter months always meant a dodgy connection through some northern or central European airport or worse - New York’s JFK - any of which could be compromised by winter weather, not to mention crowds. So it is then that you are positively thrilled to learn of a new once weekly nonstop flight from GOT straight through to Miami. Bestill det, Danno! Identify the airline and aircraft please.
A N S W E R E D

17. (1991) Alas, all good things must come to an end and so it is that after a week on the sun-kissed beaches of South Florida, you pack your bags in preparation for tomorrow’s flight from Ft. Lauderdale up to snowy Syracuse. Normally you route through Atlanta or Pittsburgh but those options are sold out this week. Thankfully you’ve found there’s a single a two-stop direct flight on this route with a First Class seat available. Perfect! Name the airline, enroute stops and aircraft please.
It's not US, CO or DL, nor is it a 733 or MD80

22. (1993) After a week at the fabulous Solmar Resort in Cabo San Lucas, it’s time to return home to Colorado Springs. Although you sailed here from Guaymas, located across the Sea of Cortez, you’ll be flying home. You’ve found a very convenient itinerary involving two nonstop flights on two different airli or COnes via a single nicely timed connection. Short of flying way out of your way, this is the only two flight connection available. Please identify all of the usual things we like to know about here at the OTAQ&D.

10. Well, Air Jamaica was my next guess as I do recall they were attempting to operate a hub in Montego Bay back around this time....

As for the Air Jamaica equipment operated between MBJ and LAX, I'm reasonably sure it was an A320.

And therein lies a brief little story from Back In The Day.....

I was in the front cabin on board an A319 operated by United en route to Los Angeles nonstop from New Orleans and was listening to ATC radio calls on the IFE system. We were over southern New Mexico around sunset when I heard the lilting and melodic voice of a lady pilot who had a distinctly Caribbean accent. Turned out it was an Air Jamaica flight bound for LAX from MBJ behind us. That transmission resonated with me in view of my many experiences in the Caribbean.....so I immediately ordered a rum drink and then toasted the sunset as we made our way west.

5- so is it one or two stops? in either case, I’ll offer Northwest with a DC-9-30 via Detroit/DTW; if two stops, the first at Memphis/MEM
