Boredom........How do you kill time on the road?

OK...just finished season 9 of House. Up to date on all the best sellers on Kindle.

How do you kill the time on the road? Travel every week, M-Th.

Any ideas?

Starwood forum?

(And, yes, I do have an answer. Think of better topic titles.)

I was like you, Ipad full of all seasons of 24, Spooks etc, more books than I could read, and I still make use of them, but 2 things recently have added to my diversion factor...

1) Busuu.com. learn a language, in my case Portuguese. The app doesnt cost more than a couple of dollars, and after about 3 months I am at conversational level.

2) get a UK Ip address (cost about 8 US dollars per month) which means you can then watch all BBC iplayer, ITV player, Channel 4 player, more TV than you can ever take in!

I try to kill time by working out, then exploring the city I am in. I read reviews and check out nearby beer bars and restaurants which sound interesting. If I'm in a small town, I will often drive to a nearby town 30 minutes or so away.

How about writing something for the world after you are gone?

I have two kids 2 and 6 and for each one I have a small black leather Moleskine notebook which I keep in my briefcase. I write the funny things they say and do and anything else that I want them to know. I am also working on a more profound "Word to the Wise" type of book for them.

I was inspired to do this by my great-grandfather, who toward the end of his very eventful and adventurous life in the 19th century wrote a book for his grandchildren entitled "For My Grand-Children".

My travel schedule and the nature of my job doesn't really allow for downtime, as I generally work 12-16 hours a day on the road (Meetings all day followed by evenings spent catching up with everything I missed...), but I find a good book kills time better than anything else. I'm currently rereading all of the Russian lit that I glossed over in college, and enjoying it this time around.

If you are in the US / Canada you can watch TV shows online too at various TV providers websites.
