Not getting on a flight on a multi flight resevation. PLEASE HELP

OK so I bought a multi city ticket from cheap tickets this is my Itinerary
12/03 Juneau to Fort Lauderdale
12/14 Orlando to Washington DC
12/21 Washington DC to LAX
12/28 LAX to Juneau

We were supposed to go on a cruise in FLL but it fell threw so we wanted to go to New Orleans instead to visit a good friend. So we would only be changing the arrival from the first flight to New Orleans instead of Fort Lauderdale. When I called cheaptickets they said it would be $900 EACH!!! to change just the first leg of our flight. That's more than the tickets cost! What I was wondering was if we just did not get on one of our connecting flights in between Juneau and FLL would they cancel all of our other flights? We have a connecting flight in Seattle and we were just not going to get on the plane to FLL and just fly to New Orleans on a different airlines. It's only $130 dollar ticket :) But I don't want them to cancel all of our other flights. Will they cancel all the other ones? Is there a way we can tell them we missed the flight and caught a train or something?? Let me know?

laylab, welcome to FlyerTalk! Assuming that all of your flights are on one itinerary and ticket, failing to board an earlier flight will cause all the rest to be cancelled.

This comes up so very often on FlyerTalk. You can see many threads on this by searching the forum under the terms, "hidden city ticketing".

In short, yes.

laylab, welcome to FT!

If you do not get on a flight, as others have already said, all subsequent flights will be canceled. Airline computers are very good at doing this, you will not sneak through.

Buy a separate ticket from Fort Lauderdale to New Orleans or, if there are three or four of you, rent a car at Fort Lauderdale and drive to New Orleans (if you have a day to spare). If you return the car in Orlando, it will probably minimize drop charges.

Unfortunately, you bought a non-refundable, non-changeable ticket and you will have to live with the consequences.

And back to Orlando, too!
