Hi all

I usually fly with Emirates but cant stand the long haul flight to the states(going down for a wedding in Miami)

Can anybody tell me which is better. BA Club or Vigin upper class?????
prices seem to be the same but i have never flown with them. Dubai - Heathrow - Miami is my route

thanks

Virgin Upper Class has the lie flats, and pretty good service as well. I can't speak for BA although I think they do too. Virgin tends to run the A340's between the US and UK, and BA still runs almost all 747 that route. I would take the 340 any day over the 47

Virgin is streets ahead of BA. Also , just curious -what's wrong with Emirates long haul business :)

OP finds it too long and would like to break up the trip in LHR.
Nothing wrong with that.

Welcome to Flyertalk!

If you are interested in flying EK to LHR, then transfer to a flight from LHR to MIA, VS operates the LHR-MIA route with 747s. Some of the posts on this thread mentioned that the A340s are better. Frankly, if you are flying Upper Class on a VS 747, you might have a choice of seating in the nose or upper deck of the plane, which is advantage over flying an A340.

I would do BA. I got stuck on a couple VS planes with the old IFE and it's a nightmare! I prefer the BA seats (especially if your taller) and the service is a little more formal imo.

However, if your not travelling alone and it's a day time flight go VS because of the bar onboard :p you'll have a blast!

You can't go wrong with either, however my preference would be BA.

Unless flying Y and even vaguely tall (I know you're not flying Y). BA offer a better seat pitch than VS's, the latter being one of the worst in the long-haul business.

If you are a young, loud, flashy type of person choose Virgin.
Sophisticated, intelligent, quiet and well mannered then choose BA.
