Sealed iPad in handbag
Will they want me to open it up for going through in the handbag?
I want to gift it to someone. RIC-Dulles-SEA |
The real question is whether the packaging makes it easier to slip the ipad into the pants or not.
In the meantime, could you please spell your name for me? :p |
put precut wrapping stuff in the carry on, wrap on the plane....good luck...

You'll be at the mercy of whichever TSA agent you get. Official rule is that they may require you to open the packaging for inspection. Can you buy the ipad in your destination city? That would be the only way to ensure it stays shrinkwrapped. Good luck.

if its the original packing, you could just carry scotch tape...
there might be more info on ipad treatment in the travel safety/security forum...search ipad....good luck... |
Has nothing to do with iPad's. They don't need to be pulled out for separate inspection like larger laptops. But, anything is subject to inspection. Several options:
1. Wrap it at your destination. Always a risk that TSA opens the sealed packaging, but not highly likely. 2. Wrap it and be prepared to rewrap it at your destination in the unlikely event that it is opened. 3. Easiest is to have it shipped to your destination, most likely save the sales tax (no idea what that is where you are (looks to be VA, so 5%) and wrap on arrival. I have never had my iPad pulled out and I've never had a wrapped gift opened, so I see this as a remote possibility. |
