Interior of Window Iced-Over: Something to Worry About?
I'm on AA1136 right now, MIA-DCA, (738) and my window at 3F, which was misted over before takeoff, is now accumulating a good bit of ice on the inside. I can't recall having seen this before, and the cabin crew seems unconcerned. Is it a regular occurrence? Anything to worry about?
|
Yeah don't worry, most likely the ice filling the scratches in the window, together with the curvature of the glass it looks like it's inside
|
It's inside insofar as it is definitely coating the black rubber between the outermost pane of glass and the pane immediately opposite. The rubber has begun to warp and bow noticeably during the flight. A little disconcering.....and I am far from a nervous flyer.

The problem, insofar as there is one, can be remedied by closing the window shade.
|
Seen it many times....

We've all seen window icing.....just never seen the rubber flap around like a flag in a hurricane before. That was bizarre. Landed safely in any case. |
I assume the flight was not too hot. That is one big advantage. :)
