Oh, and I will only take a dump in my hotel room
As for me, I prefer the bathroom!

Yeah let's not do this in the urinals again...

Believe it or not, a guy at my school did this in a urinal. Very amusing and disgusting at the same time!

I am always constantly amazed how germophobic people are - I never even think about any of the stuff mentioned here when I am in a hotel room. There was a news article I read recently which confirmed my long term theory - that regular exposure to bacteria helps keep the immune system strong.

That said, if we are talking true OCD then this is irrelevant.

The only time I think I need to exercise caution is on long haul flights - I NEVER get colds & flu EXCEPT after a long haul flight. However I have no idea whether it is from a) touching certain surfaces or b) recycled air or c) compromised immune system from the long flight.

LOL! :D

I pity the employee that is in charge of making sure the washroom is in order..

there isn't a law defining what urinals are for, is there?

pretty much any new airliner has air constantly coming in from the engines, so while it's not like an open window, it's not like sitting inside a plane without any ventilation.

whenever i get sick after long hauls, it's typically because my body feels so beat up.

I too will use a towel or tissue when exiting a bathroom with a pull door. Airplane lavatories are more difficult - using a towel to unlock the door, turn the handle, and then dispose of the towel in the trash receptacle without touching anything is like a game.

Not until recently have I thought about the seat-back pocket how I don't really need to look at the same Sky Mall magazine again. I just avoid it now.:D

ah good to hear - I have always wondered about that!

I tend to agree the reason I get a cold after long haul - it really takes it out of you. Last year I did - Perth-Sydney-LAX-DFW-Mexico City - Guadalara in one go. When I got to the hotel I just starting vomiting for no reason! My body said 'enough is enough'! Was fine when I woke up the next morning tho.

I feel compelled to look at the airline magazine to check out any new booze offerings, as well as that month's rotating wine selections.

Not really the point. After all, restaurants could simply wipe down silverware between uses instead of washing it, just like hotel maids do with the glasses in the room. That would not kill anybody either, but I doubt most would be happy with it.

On planes, after wiping my hands/face with offered towel, I would use towel to wipe the remote for IFE, both upper and bottom of tray table, the video screen and all around it, the arm rests, and sometimes, I even want to wipe the top of the head of the passenger in front of me, but up to now, have resisted doing so.

If using the plane's toilet, I would use wetted paper towels to wipe the wash basin surface, the toilet seat, the faucet handles. Before exiting the toilet, I would use towels to wipe the basin and surfaces for the next pax. But I don't use a towel to open the door handle or pull.

In hotel room, I don't use towel to wipe the TV remote or telephone hand set or glasses. Guess I should do that from now on.

One thing I do in hotel rooms, not all the time, but if staying in lower starred hotels, I spray insecticide all over the carpeting, bedspread, under the bed, right after getting into room; then leave the room for 1 - 2 hours, if possible, before going back into the room to unpack, etc.
