Question about partner flights and check-in
I am traveling this weekend from the US to India with 2 stops in between. I booked my flight itinerary through Cathay Pacific's website. The first leg of my itinerary is operated by Alaska Air, and the other 2 flights are with Cathay.
Can anybody here confirm my assumptions/questions below: 1) I assume that I should be checking in with Alaska Air for the first leg of the flight (Seattle to Vancouver) 2) If I check baggage, will I have to retrieve it in Vancouver and then re-check it with Cathay or will my baggage be checked all the way to my final destination? 3) When I arrive in Vancouver, will I need to check in with Cathay Pacific for the next segment of my itinerary? Also, since the 2nd and 3rd segment are with Cathay, will I receive both boarding passes when I check-in with Alaska Air in Seattle or will I receive them when I check in with Cathay in Vancouver? Sorry if this seems like a rudimentary question, but I have never actually flown with 2 layovers before, so I feel like a complete noobie. Thanks in advance for your responses! |
Sounds like you are flying SEA-YVR-HKG-XXX.
Check in with Alaska at SEA. You should be able to check your baggage straight through to final destination when you start at SEA. As AS and CX are partners there's a good chance you will get all your BPs at SEA, but if not you should be able to collect both your CX passes at YVR. |
There is a wizard here that should help you navigate YVR:
