Best Hotel Pools for Swimming

I know there are a few of us who enjoy exercise swimming when traveling. Most hotel web sites just indicate if they have a pool or not; they almost never describe the pool, especially to say if it's large enough to actually swim in or not.

I created a FlyerGuide wiki to capture those hotels with pools that are good (or otherwise noteworthy); or if there are pools nearby or easily-accessible to hotel guests.

I'm hoping this is a useful resource for swimmers.

Almost 300,000 FT members, but only 3 swimmers.

Added the Ritz in Singapore as a true 25M pool.

Do you want to add http://www.swimmersguide.com/ to the front page?

Sure, that's a good idea. I use that a lot (and have contributed updates to it). I added a link to the bottom of the main page.

Well, there are at least 21 swimmers, plus a couple of pool loungers, in this thread (which is a couple of years old now).

One reason I don't often use hotel pools is because I'm too used to Olympic length. Even the 25m ones I don't use unless I'm gonna be away from home a fair bit.

No pool can ever compare to the one at Hotel Du Cap.

In Chicago try the Intercontinental, 505 North Michigan Avenue.

Originally built as a Masonic Club in 1929 it has a stunning pseudo mid east decor and a great indoor beautifully tiled pool. Not Olympic size, but, I enjoyed it, a lot.

Have you been there? I know it made some site's top-10 list. Do you want to update the wiki? (If you prefer, I can do it if you provide details.)

Sounds very nice. Do you know how big it is? It'd be nice to have the details in the wiki.

In Chicago, the Palmer House Hilton used to have a beautiful pool, not very wide (except in the center, where the entrance stairs were), but long, and in a tranquil, plant-lined setting. Delightful. A few years ago I was shocked to discover they'd ripped it all out (replaced with meeting space I think) and the pool was now a small pit in a bare concrete room. Horrible.

You are kinda spoiled in Singapore with all those 50M pools with public access for S$1.

The 3 pools at the JW Marriott Phuket/Marriott Beach Club are pretty incredible.

Park Hyatt Shanghai has a nice infinity lap pool.

Hong Kong W as well.

I know that aLoft likes to tout the fact that all properties have pools, but the entry staircases IME run the entire end making it nearly impossible to do laps.

I still find it best to purchase a day-use pass at a local fitness center because hotel gyms, in general, are not that good.

Ritz, Paris has a beautiful pool, but I feel as if I have to get dressed up to swim. There is a peculiar formality about it.

Try the Park Hyatt Tokyo or the Grand Hyatt Beijing. Each of them is pretty darn amazing in totally different ways.

As to the Ritz, Paris, the 19th century fading glory environment would keep me from staying in that hotel regardless of how good their pool was!
