Creating a Monster

My brother and his fiance are going to Italy for a 3 month Honey Moon before their wedding in September. He called me today and asked for suggestions on how to make the flights as cheap as possible to maximize their cash to be spent in Italy as they are used to Y travel. I turned their simple NYC-ROM flight into a mini MR with a stop over in Dublin on the way back for my brother's birthday. The response to the email I sent with the details and mileage total got a simple response "At first I thought you went crazy, but thanks for giving us a free trip to Peru next year"
Her family is from Peru and they now have enough miles for reward tickets for next spring.

Who takes a honeymoon before they get married?
What kind of job let's you take off for 3 months?

I guess if it doesn't go well, it gives them a chance to cancel the wedding...

Seriously, to the OP: I hope they have a great trip!

My wife and I took our honeymoon two weeks before we got married because both our work schedules were crazy busy for months after we got married.

Mine does :D (although not annually). After each 10 years of service with my employer, employees receive an 8-week fully-paid sabbatical to be used however they like in addition to their normal vacation (which increases to 5 weeks upon the employee's 10th anniversary with the company). Put it all together and you can take 13 consecutive weeks vacation every 10 years if you so desire - no strings attached.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Three words that should never be used together except in very special circumstances

mileage run honeymoon :D

Not yet, but it's only been 24 hours.

We're a family of Freelancers. The background is that they met while at art school in Florence. He was her teacher (It was Italy nobody cared) and their entrance song at the wedding will be "Hot for Teacher." He is going back to attend a 10 week Masters program in Art Forgery/Crime at a school there. She works retail and the company has plenty of summertime help so getting time off isn't a big deal.

Uhm are they hiring? That's a pretty great way to show appreciation to your employees for sticking around.

Schoolteachers generally get about that amount of time off every summer.

Unfortunately, they don't make that much money. Now.. if they are married to a rich person then jackpot! :D

Or certain European civil service jobs. I used to get 9 weeks paid vacation per year, with a few weeks of that rolling over to next year if unused.
