What does it mean when Trans-Pacific flight reverse direction halfway across?
I'm tracking a Trans-Pacific flight that my famlily member is currently on. The flight is already halfway across the Pacific when I looked at on FlightAware. However, I just noticed that the plane symbol on the map has reversed its heading by 180 degrees... (i.e. heading in reverse) It's currently somewhere in northern Pacific and headed towards Alaska/Canada?
The airline website showed no delay or any other info and the airline's reservation line has kept me on hold for a while(still on hold as I'm typing this) Can anyone give me some guesses on what might be going on? |
what flight number and the destination?

Flightaware may not be accurate outside US borders?
|
Forgot to fill up with gas before they left the US and returning to Anchorage to refuel?

The flight continued westbound across the Pacific, with the 747's nose pointing to the east. It landed a little whie ago. :) |
Did it perhaps get confused by the international date line?

I think that might have been it. Learned my lesson not to trust FlightAware too much. :)
