Yes, but J doesn't neccessarily mean J. I would still take US domestic F seats over intra-European J any day. Food or no food.

Just flew on an AA 757 for the first time. Holy moly. Hey AA, 1983 called and they want their first-class seats back. Literally coming apart at the seams, metal trim on the armrests was dented almost beyond recognition.

+1. I'd only flown AA on MD-80s, CRJs and 767s until last December, when I got a 757 for DEN-MIA. Wasn't thrilled to have paid premium for that seat (though I was still happy to be up front, don't get me wrong!).

Worst was a Quantas flight can't recall where to, but a long one, where we had been on the tarmac a while so using the AC a lot, and when we took off, people got covered in (not a few drips, but cupfuls) of nasty AC water. The worst part was the FA telling us 'this is perfectly normal on international travel' in a sneering way that suggests we were not seasoned travellers. They then rolled their eyes when we all insisted on extra blankets to dry ourselves with.

Turkish Air, Istanbul-Ashgabat, sometime in the mid-90s. "First Class" meant that they didn't sell the middle seat, otherwise it was indistinguishable from coach. The left side of the plane was smoking, the right side nonsmoking. The guy across the aisle from me chain-smoked the whole flight. Plus, at the end of the flight I was in Ashgabat.
