There is no "the" actual route, since the routes taken change from day to day based on weather conditions. GCMap/OpenFlights etc will tell you the shortest route in general, and Flightaware will tell you what route your flight took afterwards, but there's no way to accurately predict where you'll be flying today...

Then you will need to go to sites such as these:
http://skyvector.com/
http://www.airnav.com/airspace/fix/
http://www.airnav.com/navaids/
http://naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/online/d_tpp
to translate this into a mappable vision of where the flight is directed:
RBV J230 LARRI J230 AIR CVG PXV J112 FAM SGF J8 IFI TCC ACH ZUN J78 DRK J231 TNP SEAVU2
If you use the "decode" button on Flightaware you can get a blow by blow in coordinates for completed flights.
To follow everything one will need to know the nomenclature for Departure Procedures (DP), Navaids, Fixes, Jetways, and Standard Terminal Arrival Routes (STAR).
