Meal Service on the ground
 

Apologize if I missed the last thread, searched and cannot find it.

Thought I caught a thread on here about service on the ground, maybe another site, but my yesterday experience cracked me up.

Boarded and everyone on board 10 minutes before take-off. By the way, China Southern. Then there is the regular safety on the video and all ok. Then there is the dreaded: jabba jabba jabba ATC. ok. Then 10 minutes later 2 more people get on. ok. Then the drink trolley comes out, ok this is China.

THEN, 45 minutes later the catering dudes come strolling down the aisles with the hot dinner trolleys. This took 30 minutes before they left the plane. Then over an hour later they served the hot meals. This is all at the gate by the way. Then the jabba jabba starts again and the FA's are running down the aisle stuffing everything into huge garbage bags. If you were not done with your food, too bad dude.

After take-off no more service on a two hour flight. 3 hours at the gate for this.

The only other times I remember being served on the ground was Eastern in Tampa, 1970's waiting for a long repair, only one other person on the plane and AA in the 90's had drink service on the taxiway when a downpour stranded us for about an hour. The lines to the lav on that AA flight were as long as it took to fly DTW to ORD and I think I was the last in line.
