Extremely loud buzzing on an A320
Was on Air Canada's C-FDSU. During the climb, the aircraft produced a really loud low-pitched sound. Since I've never flown on any Airbus before, I would like to ask whether this is routine?

Yes, that is the standard A320 Growl during ascent. No worries.

The growl is the sound of the tips of the engine fan blades surpassing the speed of sound as they rotate extra fast on climbout. The A318/19/20/21 is fitted with larger-diameter engines than the 737; hence the blades are longer, and their travel speed around the rim of the nacelle is faster. That's why the Airbii do the growl and the 737s don't.

Au contrare. You'll still get to hear the growl on a Boeing widebody, especially if you are sitting forward of the engine nacelles. ;)
