3 Coke and Jacks before 7:15am??

While most pax have coffee in the AM to get them going, the disheveled guy (with AA EXP tags) sitting across the aisle from me on this morning's MCI-MEM DL flight was having none of that. The first Jack at about 6:10a while we were at the gate, then two more during our 57 minute flight. Got a sense this was his all day beverage of choice. Wow, no wonder this guy weighed 350+ and spilled out of his F seat.

I drink in the morning when I fly (and only when I fly). Nice to know that, even though I'm minding my own business and bothering no one, there are judgmental people around who think they get to decide the moral standard for everyone else. And, no, I don't weigh 350 lbs.

Well said. I do the same! I was on a 9am SQ flight in J ex SIN, ordered a drink when this very haughty women said in a very loud voice "Don't you think it's far to early to start drinking". In hindsight i should have said "And don't think you should go on a diet and have a shave" ( she was very fat and had a mo).

Luckily I moved to another seat and drank the rest of the flight.

don't assume....

When I travel, I've often worked the night before. Last week, worked 7p-7a in Tacoma then caught the 8:15 am Cascades train (very occ, I'll fly the AS shuttle, but it takes longer) back to PDX. I went to the Bistro car and ordered a glass of wine. The lady behind me audibly snorted and mumbled something along the lines of "a bit early isn't it?" Hey lady, this is my happy hour! But I didn't say anything, just took my wine and quiche and sat down to enjoy it.

Did you really think there WEREN'T people sitting around judging? I expect it all the time. Of course, they're wrong...but I know they're there. ;)

WOW !! And I was going to say that he was a light weight, as to his drinking.

If I am flying in the morning I get a double baileys and coffee. I have that, breaky and then can sleep for the flight duration. Works every time.

Hey....it may be 8:00 am here but it is after 5:00 pm somewhere in the world. Enjoy that glass of wine! ;) ;)

You don't know how long the next guy's been awake, what time zones he's crossed, whether it feels like early morning or happy hour to him... and even if you did know, what business is it of yours? If I'm flying in the morning and not working that day, you bet I want a few bloody marys or screwdrivers to go with my Cheerios. If there are any. Whether I've been up the prior 24 hours (sometimes it happens) or not.

As already mentioned.. that guy might have just finished work.. so to him it was "evening" as far as recreation went...

Having pretty much always worked slightly odd hours I can relate to that!:D

As long as we live in a society that follows and arbitrary and externally imposed morality, as opposed to one which is predicated upon ethical behavior and inherent universal values, there will be these kind of people judging others. It's really a shame.
