Website that shows count of available seats
Is anyone familiar with a free online site that will allow me to see how many unsold seats are available on a particular flight? And how many standby’s.

There is no site that will show you standby lists for all airlines. AFAIK, only CO publishes the standby lists for their own flights (http://pda.continental.com/PDA20/Fli...sGateInfo.aspx).
If you are looking for seats available for sale there are a few options out there, including SeatCounter - which has its quirks - and one that I put together: http://tools.wanderingaramean.com/To...Inventory.aspx. |
Note that Seatcounter etc. will show the number of tickets the airline is willing to sell, not the actual number of seats remaining. The tickets for sale includes overbooking, so they may still show 5 tickets for sale on a flight with 149 out 150 seats full. The airline is counting on 4 or more people not showing up.
Likewise, seat maps show reserved seats, but also block out some seats that aren't reserved and don't show people who have tickets but no seat assignment yet. |
I've also noticed in the past week or so that Seatcounter cuts me off after one search. I get the message that I have exceeded my quota.
Doesn't really matter as there are other sources but the color coded display was easy to decipher. BW |

Remember too that seatcounter.com (and some other sites) show at most 9 seats, so when you see 9, it could mean actually 9 or it could mean that the airline is willing to sell 50 in the fare class. One also needs to be cautious in interpreting the combinations of codes--i.e., does Y5 B3 mean that there are eight seats to sell or that there are only 5, of which at least 2 must be sold at a full Y fare?
