child ticket

Hi i hope this is posted in the correct area.
I have made a mistake i booked 2 adult tickets and 2 children tickest to london. I entered my kids ages not realizing that one of them is 11 now but will be 12 about a month before we fly. I have since printed out the tickets and cant change them. Do you think it will become a big problem or should i just tell them at checkin and see if i can pay the extra.
thanks mark

I would call the airline and resolve it before you get there.

Good luck.

Do you think the airline will give you any trouble if your child is a little bit over 11?

Ticket prices are usually the same for a child two and older, and an adult, so probably no additional charge.. maybe its just an info change needed.. Definitely an issue if passports are required, then the information must be accurate.

OP's child will be 12 a month before they fly. The issue isn;t that the child is a little, one yr and one month older than eleven, but that the child will be over 12 on the date of the outbound journey, which determines the fare basis.

To the OP, some child fares are the same as adult fare. if that's the case, all you have to do is, call the airline and change the DOB in the PNR. Otherwise, you need to do what honourable cordelli suggested.

I have to admit.. I didn't know airlines charge a different fare for children 12 and older.. Up here in Canada, anybody who takes a seat is charged the same price.. and if you have a child under 2, then your child can sit on your lap without getting charged.

I would be above board then.. make sure all info is accurate.. your passports are ready.. and make sure the flight booking info is the same as what is reasonably on your IDs. Takes the worry out of it and gives you a more enjoyable experience.

When I was working in the industry children under 12 got a one-third discount on the more expensive fares but paid the same as adults on the cheaper fares.
