I don't mind delays out of LAS on the way home (on the nonstop) - more time to hang in the PC or play the slots :cool:

Yes, when I see the TSA smurfs laying in wait to pounce on boarding passengers. They'll usually go away if the flight is significantly delayed.

red eye from CX YVR-JFK where the JFK customs dont open til 6 am anyway so no reason to fly too fast.

I have had those thoughts when my original flight has been delayed and I was afraid I would miss a connecting. I always end up missing the connecting flight anyway and the only ones that are delayed are when I am trying to get home and get some sleep.

I did miss a connection once by walking slowly, I could hear the announcement as I came into the terminal, and probably got there about 30 seconds too late. I wasn't trying to miss it, I was trying to make it, but couldn't - injury, limping badly at the time. The result was approximately a 12 hour late arrival :(

I do wish for late flights all the time, when they're the connecting flights, and my first flight is delayed. Sometimes I even get my wish . . .

When I'm on the way back home from a business trip, I'm on the clock until I get back to my house. Often I'm finally relaxing again, frequently at a lounge, and I'm happy to catch up on emails, Flyertalk or read the paper. Getting home means not getting paid anymore plus back to the routine.

Also, as many others have, during a tight connection when I've wanted to go to the bathroom or get food or if I don't want to misconnect.

The only times I even hope for a flight to be late are:

1. My inbound flight is delayed so hoping the connection is also delayed so I don't miss the connection.
2. I am running late for my flight (luckily rare as I usually arrive very early for flights).
3. I am enjoying the beverages/company in the lounge before the flight.
4. I am watching an important/interesting event on TV in the lounge (e.g. cricket match, football game etc) and want to see the final result.

When I used to fly ORD-NRT-ICN on UA, I kept hoping to get stranded at NRT so I'd have an excuse to venture outside the airport (Japan is still on my "only ever changed planes there" list). Unrealistic, really, as there are numerous flights NRT-ICN and NRT-US, so the probability of getting quickly rebooked on another flight are pretty high, but one can hope.

Same applies to when I've flown ORD-IAH-HNL-GUM, except that I was only hoping to get stranded in HNL (not IAH :D ) and I've been outside the airport there.

When I'm in NRT ANA lounge... agh, the sake bar...

A while back, I applied for the GOES program. I then had to schedule an in person interview. My home airport, DEN was not an option. I was flying ROC/DEN, connecting through IAD which is a GOES interview site.

I actually booked my hotel (points) in IAD. A little weather came in, my connection was blown, and I made by GOES appointment the next day.

Yes. I was flying to Amsterdam and catch a connecting flight from there. My flight to Amsterdam got delayed and I hoped that it would get delayed some more, so we are unable to catch the connecting flight until the next day and I have a few hours to explore the city.

Oh, do I ever, pretty much on every return from overseas to the US. Extra night in Tokyo or Hong Kong or London? Sign me up!

For that matter, although not quite the same thing, I was returning to the US from Bagkok a couple of weeks ago and really kinda hoping the redshirts would close the airport. "Sorry boss! Civil disorder, nothing I can do for a few days, I'll be working remotely."

Back when I flew a lot of coach international I would hope for something weird to happen so that I might get comped up to business. (I had status, but spent a lot of time in the back of the plane.)
