Alcohol served on flights to/from Riyadh?
Hi
I'm flying BMI LHR-RUH then Emirates RUH-DXB. Anyone know if alcoholic beverages are served on board either of these routes? Cheers (no pun intended:D) Stephen |
I believe they both do.

Yes ,except in Saudi airspace.
|
Yes on BD,and watch the bar drain in seconds!
Not sure EK will as the flight is almost totally in Saudi airspace. |
QR serves alcohol over Saudi Airspace.
|
Yes in flight. No for pre-departure drinks when departing from RUH.
|
Thanks!
Many thanks to all for prompt and helpful replies. I look forward to my non Saudi airspace beer! :D

I've always heard the rule that flights into Saudi Arabia need to lock up the alcohol once they cross into Saudi airspace, and that flights leaving Saudi Arabia can break out the drinks once they have left Saudi airspace. No restrictions for flights merely overflying Saudi airspace enroute between two destinations outside Saudi Arabia. But I have not been to the Magic Kingdom myself, so I have no firsthand experiences to go on. |
On my frequent flights in and out of RUH with BA ( aboy 5 years ago) they would always announce entry and exit of Saudi airspace. Not that I really wanted any alcohol when flying out at 03.00 am.
I have also taken the EK flight from RUH. I cannot remenmber but as it is shortly and basixcally entirely in saidi airspace I doubt any alcohol is offered. |
Appropriate forum.;)

For my flight from RUH last year we were not allowed alcoholic drinks pre-departure but no restrictions once in the air. I do not believe we were clear of Saudi airspace when drink service began.
I flew from Doha to Riyadh in June 2023. No alcohol at all offered on board (first class). |
Bumping a 13 year old thread is of little value
