Partners have no meaning of sharing the same elite benefits, only if they are belong to the same alliance. In this case, VA is neither star nor skyteam. Partners only means they can sell thru flights instead of buying two tickets. |
I apologize firstly for digging up such an old thread but I'm in a very similar situation but I have a relatively hefty load of luggage to bring.
I'm booked on V Australia one-way ($1600!! Shows how much the fare has gone up in a year...) and I asked the rep regarding if I could purchase excess baggage seeing as they don't do unaccompanied baggage. No, so I inquired about the excess weight; I was told that I would have to pay $135 AUD but would be granted up to 64kg per 2 pieces! (as per the website) This was more than adequate and I was quite keen but he then said it was subject to approval during check-in... Has anyone abused excess baggage weight to that extent? Worth trying my luck arriving at the airport that heavy? One of my pieces is a set of golf clubs so I should technically only be charged $67.50 also! If anybody could share their experience, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
