Do you prefer a seat assignment that most would not?

31F on a Mad Dog

Let me explain some why this is the seat I will select most of the time. I fly to only US cities for my job, no international and my home airport is DFW. Most flights for me are Eagle flights or on Mad Dogs.

* I am window person because I will always at some point fall asleep and I like resting my head against the window.
* After 8+ years of flying, I really don't care to see the world outside my window, so the blocked view is no issue.
* I like not having to fight other elites for bin space up front and like the time between boarding groups to get comfortable before the Kettles arrive.
* The engine noise is not an issue because I will have an IPod with me and actually, the rhythm of the engine helps me fall asleep quicker
* I check luggage so getting off first is of no importance
* 31E seems to be one of the last seats that is filled with standby passengers so I have been on a few flights with a full plane except for the middle seat next to me.

Does anyone else enjoy a certain seat the most FF's would not sit in under normal circumstances?

As the question is open ended for all airlines we will be forwarding to TravelBuzz for input by everyone who desires to do so.

Me too.

I generally go for the 2nd to last row,(guaranteed recline though I rarely use it) aisle, on any type of plane if I'm flying coach. Agreed on all of your points except for the window seat. I don't sleep much on planes and I like to get up at least once during a flight to stretch my legs. Nothing worse that that snoring guy in the aisle seat you have to wake up to climb over because he's too lazy/tired/rude to stand up and let you out of the row.

For those that prefer seats all the way in the back.. the lav issue doesn't bother you (location and/or smell)? I never sat that far back, I just always see SeatGuru warning people about that.

They are not seat assignments, but on WN flying from SJC to BUR, I will bolt to the back of the plane, since they use rear stairs in BUR. Also, on completely full WN flights that are less than an hour, sometimes I will deliberately take a middle between two petite women - beats getting squeezed when a person of size takes the middle.

As far forwards as humanly possible. I can not stand waiting to get off the plane.
My preferred seat is 9A. And if someone's in 9A I will even say "oh so YOU'RE the one who took my seat." :D

I would take 9E over row 32 anytime.

1E, on AA 757

Most find this bulkhead very tight and avoid it.

I however am short enough to take advantage of it because my legs can rest on the bulkhead wall and my computer bag only takes up half the overhead space and the rollaboard uses a bit of 2E space. Plus I love the freedom of getting out easily.

1. On full or nearly full flights, I'll go toward the back, a strategy that often means I get the scarce vacant seat next to me.

2. On lesser full flights I'll go for the back and try to get an entire row. Works quite often.

3. I have downgraded from AA's bulkhead first class seat to get an entire row of economy. (Flying first vs economy on short, domestic flights -- less than 3 hours -- is usually not that big of a deal.)

My first choice is always a window seat, but I'll take a center over an aisle. I'm tall and long-armed; that means I'm constantly assaulted by carts and hips and anything else apssing through the aisle. By contrast, I'm thin, so I fit just fine in a center seat.

I totally agree w/ these points!

When I'm stuck on a RJ, I go for 19A. By any objective standard it's a horrific seat. It's cramped by the curvature of the fuselage, doesn't recline, and is literally inches from the lav. But I like it. I can't explain it.

How do you know that there are two petite women and not two fat hairy dudes? I didn't know seat selection screens show passenger physique and genders now.

I think the poster meant once aboard the airplane, in an open seating arrangement.

I like a window with a view so if I’m not in front of the wing, I like to be as far back as possible. The very last row has a number of advantages – nobody behind to kick the seat; people face forwards so conversations will be directed away from you – most likely row to have a centre seat left free. On the downside, on one flight there were smells from the loo; sometimes the seat doesn’t recline properly (no bother for me as a non-sleeper non-recliner in economy); and occasionally the last row doesn’t get a proper window which is annoying. Depending on the flight, you might be last in the catering queue, but sometimes you are first. I have never found people queuing for the loos to be bothersome, but as I said, I am a non-sleeper.

33F on CO76

Nice views of Manhatten on the very rare occasions there's no cloud, everyone aims for the front so there's a better chance of getting a row to oneself (it did happen once!), plus they use front & rear airstairs at BRS so I can nip out quickly whilst 7/8 of the plane don't realise the doors have even opened yet^
