Do any hotels offer value-added gift cards?
I'm not a frequent hotel user, but I will have a lot of hotel stays in the next several months. Do any of the major chains offer gift cards or pre-pay options that give you a bonus, such as $550 gift card for only $500? Are there any point systems in which it would actually make sense to buy a bunch of points and use them to book stays (unlike FF miles)? Are there other options that I'm overlooking for a period of heavy hotel use?
I'm counting on those who know the hotel system inside and out to give me some good advice. Thanks in advance. |
If you have a credit card that gives you 5% cashback at Grocery Stores, you can pick up Marriott gift cards at Safeway/Vons. It's not the 10% you're looking for, but it's half way there. :)

Marriott offers exactly what you are looking for. See this thread for a discussion of it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...lta-miles.html
It seems to be a yearly promo with Marriott. |
RE: value-added cards

BestWestern is currently offering a $10 gift card with the purchase of a $100 card.

Giant Eagle offers 20c off gas for $50 in Gift cards
I saw Marriott cards there (e.g. $100 Marriott cards = 40c discount).
When my sister used a 40c discount on her gas fill-up, it saved us $5.32 (5.3%). eBates has been offering 2X rebates on Black Friday weekend, and continental.com shopping was offering 2X miles. Some sites have been offering $10 for $50 etc... (value-added) gift cards. I haven't figured out the best combination: a) purchase with rebate credit card (2%) b) use eBates, FatWallet, airline shopping site (0-10%) c) which website to purchase the gift cards... (0-20%) If you figure out a good combination, love to hear your story. Good luck! |
