visa from Brazil
I just received my Brazilian visa from Houston. I just was wondering if its a real one. The visa is glued to my passport with a clear strip on 1/3 of the page. My photo is on the left. It says it is valid for 5 years. Wondering if anyone could let me know if this sounds right. Some internet sights are saying that a Brazilian visa is just a stamp. Any help? Thanks

the only brazilian visa I have seen looks like the one on this link

Welcome to FT
How did you get the visa and why would you think it is a fake? Mine is just a stamp in the passport but I got it a while ago. The stamp looks just like the link that wolfie shows. If you got it from the Brasilian consulate, I'm sure it is real |
We went through an agency. But L.A was having trouble getting Visas and the person we went through got it back in a week and a half. It seems strange that all the agencies that I called said it wouls take at least a month,if they could get it at all! We live in L.A. Just one of the red flags that are raised.
We are going on a 33 day cruise and don't want to fly to Rome to be denied boarding the cruise. Thanks to all for the info. If anyone that has one that came from Houston this year PLEASE let me know. i might just drive to the consulate next week and show them what I have. |
Welcome to FT!
FT has over 220,000 members and over 12 million posts. The only way to avoid total chaos is to organize them into forums for specific topics - including many for different travel destinations. As you spend more time here, which I hope you will, you'll become more familiar with how this works. This question should probably be asked in the South America forum. Aside from keeping things organized, that's where most of the experts on this sort of thing hang out. There are a number of existing threads on Brazilian visas there already. TravelBuzz is for general travel questions, those that don't focus on a specific part of the world. In the meantime, since posting the same question is multiple places is frowned upon, I'll ask a moderator to move this thread over there. |
well this is a tricky one, there is no way I would show up anywhere in the World with documents that may not be real! (I have enough trouble with the real ones)
Why dont you call the consulate that issued your visa and explain/ask to confirm that they really issued a visa for you? |
Thanks for the info. I will call the consulate on Monday.

I got my first Brazilian visa in 2007 in Chgo. It is a blue stamp that takes one page. It was good for one year.
In 2008, I got another one, good for 5 years. It is just like your description: The visa is glued to my passport with a clear strip on 1/3 of the page. My photo is on the left. |
Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8900/4.6.1.114 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)
I got mine in EL Salvador for a USA citizen...it was just a giant blue stamp. I am sure you are ok. |
I did call the consulate and they said the new visas look like what I described.
So all looks good. Thanks for the posts. |
