Given the new UI and many broken features, such as no more access to fare rules on EF, does anyone have suggestions for other services, paid or free, that offer what EF used to do well in the past? Seats.aero, for example, does flight availability, fares, and fare rules. I think it’s free. And, you can access TK flight availability.

I guess that's a business idea for somone that wants to come in and take EF's business. Do a deal with one of the GDS providers, and steadily add features and capabilities.

ChatGPT seems to indicate that set-up fees can range from $5K to $25K plus monthly fees from $2K to $5K. That's first year GDS costs of $85K.

From a search, Flyertalk gets c. 1.5m unique users per month. Let's say you manage to convert 0.5% of these users at $10/mo, that's $75k/mo in revenue. Plus of course you've got hosting, development costs, on-going support. I don't think it's going to be that high margin a business. I'm very curious as to what the existing players like Seats.aero et al see as the market opportunity.

Flighty is great, but I fear if they were to go down this route it would dilute their core USP and be a distraction.

No, thats not what GDS access via API costs, don't believe everything what ChatGPT makes up.
Its MUCH cheaper.

I'm looking for the availability to search class availability for a specific route. Ie currently looking for G class availability on VS metal (to be able to redeem DL upgrade certificates). Is this possible?

I have been using Planepoints as a BETA tester, and they have just gone live on the app store. It is early days, but they give the seat details I need and used to get from EF until the 24 hr BA thing failed, and they use aeroLOPA seatmaps. I am undecided but I do quite like it. It does not do all the fare stuff like EF but does things like fare classes and reward seats etc. Might be worth a look? I am not affiliated in anyway with the app!

Unfortunately, it's available only for iPhones.

Does anyone have a better tool for checking airport timetables online (basically, every flight to depart on a particular day from an airport) since EF is broken, and there is no effort to fix it after months and months?

Thanks for the mention aks120 :)

We're currently implementing a second GDS which will provide us with an expanded data set around fare code availability, as well as a calendar view for reward seat availability. I very much welcome all other feedback on where you'd like to see the Planepoints app go next!

How about an Android or web version for those of us who are non-Apple users?

I second the Android request, and also flight availability by booking class (Expert Flyer style or similar).

Thanks for the replies - Android is in development, web will come next year :)

I definitely don't plan to be iOS only long term, we're a self funded start up we had to pick and focus on a single platform as a starting point unfortunately. For the flight availability by booking class, we have this on all airlines apart from BA and AS, these will be added as soon as we gain access to a secondary GDS which has this data (integration is in progress).

Flightstats has one, although its just +/- 3 days from current date. Not sure if their subscription service provides a larger date range.

Flightradar24 has this in the airport flight history function, at subscription levels. It also let's you look at future scheduled flights at least 1 week ahead, maybe more if you click enough

Any great alternative to fare information and flight availability? I decide not to renew my EF subscription as they clearly proven themself lack the capacity/ability to fix reported bugs/issues.
