Tools to search for flights w/ direct stopovers (you don't leave plane)
So I recently was looking at Southwest, and they seem to have a unique feature that if you request "nonstop" it also lists stopovers... for example you might fly NYC -> DEN -> SFO, but you don't leave the plane on the DEN segment.
Is it possible to find these sorts of flights on other airlines easily? I use Kayak and Hipmunk but don't see an option in either.
My main problem with stopovers is the risk that I won't make it across the airport and possibly be stranded in the airport, if I could sit on the plane an extra bit it wouldn't be as big of a deal and would save some money.

You should be careful of these on the legacy carriers. On the Big 3, I believe even if a flight shares the same flight number, the equipment can be different and you'll still potentially miss the connection. Southwest's arrangement is nice because you really do stay on the same aircraft.
