Tool for finding cheap international fares
Hi Everyone,
I've been working on a website as a side project and thought the community might find it useful. It allows you to easily check for the (usually) cheapest fares to ~80 international destinations by selecting the airport you want to depart from. I'm hoping to get your feedback - do you find it useful, are there any origins or destinations I should add to the list, other features you might like to see, etc. Here's the website: otterflights.com/dealromp The design really basic, but there's some good data in there. Disclaimer: There's no guarantee that the flight listed is the absolute cheapest fare, so make sure to do your due diligence before booking. This is meant to be a jumping point for finding great fares, but isn't the absolute source of truth (flight data only refreshes every ~18 hour or so) Happy to answer any questions you might have. Thanks! EDIT: Updated URL to Point to the new location for the tool. |
Nice tool! One suggestion I would have is to enable sorting by price, date, etc. I see that the prices are already in ascending order, but having the the other categories sortable would be nice too. Just a thought.

I like it as a jumping off point! The biggest problem is that it seems all fares are 7 day fares including weekends which pulls in a different set of fares than a more typical trip (if a week long, Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday) or a shorter weekend hop.
That being said great jumping off point to narrow options! |
This is great! Is there an option to look for 1 ways? I am planning a EURASIA trip soon, and will fly into Asia and fly home from Europe. This is really helpful so far.

Wonderful. I love it when people come up with useful and simple solutions!
My suggestions for you to consider, in order of priority: 1-More destinations. I would use this: http://brilliantmaps.com/top-100-tourist-destinations/ 2-I think it would be a good idea to include another trip cost, for a Saturday to Sunday flight. I'd make that another column rather than a toggle (or a toggleable column!) so we could compare. 3-Some kind of Good Price/Great Price marker. This is difficult though because of the seasonal thing. Maybe below 365 day average is good, and 20% below 365 day average is great? 4-Option to hide destinations! 5-Email alert feature for good/great markers? Probably out of scope :) |

Any chance you could include the airline or the alliance group in the list?
Also, the list would be more useful if it could be sorted and filtered and if the search and sort/filter parameters were part of the URL. That would allow bookmarks to restore those settings. |
Cool stuff! Too bad it doesn't have any EU airports!
