Historical Flight Data - delays, cancellations, registration/tail numbers, etc.
Hi,
I am trying to get flight information for 2012. Basically, I have a court case regarding denied boarding and need to prove that the airline were able to assist me by moving me to a flight operated by another airline that departed before the next flight of theirs, which they ultimately put me on.
I know there were flights by BA and Virgin on that day, but I have no idea how to get confirmation of that. I tried calling BA but they were no help on the phone and said it wasn't something they could do.
Any ideas?
Much appreciated.

How to find historical flights from March between HOU and LIT?
I want to know is if there was a direct flight on Southwest from HOU to LIT in March 2014 on weekdays departing after 6 PM, but on Flightaware it seems like I can only search historical flights up to 4 months back by flight number, and the flight number that flies HOU-LIT now was flying different cities back then. I don't know what flight number was flying HOU-LIT back then.
I tried flightmapper.net, but that only goes back to April 14.
Do you know of a way or a free website where I could find this info? Or how to search between HOU and LIT for 4 months ago on Flightaware if you don't know the flight number?
Thanks!

Flight History Data (consolidated thread)
Hi All
Can you tell me if there is a internet site that you can check the history of past flights showing what time the flight took off and landed.
I traveled on flight Tom2251 on the 20th Dec 2011 which had a long delay in Lanzarote, If i remember right, the delay was 4 hours. With all the media information regarding claiming compensation for long delays, I have decided to check the delay out to see if i have a claim.
Regarding the delay, There had been a fuel spill on the tarmac and when they were fueling the plane and it took ages to clean up the area around the plane and we were not allowed to board the plane.
Any info on how to search for past flights and delays would be great.

Regulation EU 261 says you can claim for any flight delay since the law’s introduction in 2005. In practice however it’s unlikely that an airline will pay out for flights older than six years as this is the limitation period for this type of claim under English law.
Some airlines are arguing that limitation should be only 2 years as per the Montreal Convention but this is not correct. We won a case at the Court of Appeal in 2014 to get the six year limitation confirmed for the benefit of passengers with flight delays more than 2 years old

Best Flight History App/Site?
So, I was using AirHelp the other day to see if I could file a claim for a screwed up flight. Magically the last 3 years of my travel history was grabbed from my email.
It seems FlightDiary, FlightMemory, OpenFlights, etc. don't do that. Are there any that do it automatically, the way TripIt does, but historically?
I know TripIt does provide some historical info, but it's mostly a tool for ongoing trip planning.
Thanks! And please let me know if there's a long thread about this somewhere that I missed.

Thanks for the tip on TripIt + OpenFlights. Looks like I can then import that data into Flightdiary if I want.
If I wasn't concerned about a company having access to my emails, is there a service I should look to?
OpenFlights TripIt import is relatively nice, but the rest of Openflights is kinda a mess. But, I guess it's better than nothing. FlightDiary seems much better at showing the data and charts, etc. Maybe ill try both for awhile.

For those who use FlightMemory and want to be able to track aircraft registrations I've built a little browser extension hack which adds that n-number lookup into the flight edit page. The data only works for domestic US travel where the DoT has recorded the information in the BTS logs and it has a delay of ~6-10 weeks (Jan '15 posted last night) but it should be complete and accurate for most domestic US flights.
