Looking for an app
 

This is perhaps not the very best forum to ask but I'm unsure where else on the web to solicit people's ideas. That being said, this is one of the first places WhatApp's was presented and it did turn out to be a multi billion dollar idea so who knows..

Anyway, my organisation is looking to deploy a global commuting /rideshare /carpooling system and we're thinking that a system similar to Uber / Lyft could be interesting. Basically the idea is for employees to post their departure time and destination in the morning / evening into an IT system and whoever is interested (i.e. "carpoolee" or driver) takes them up on their offer for a ride.

Micro-transaction to share petrol / parking costs could be interesting but not strictly necessary. It also needs to be private as we want to limit the carpooling system to our organisation (there is a safety aspect to picking up random people).

Zymride looks like it could do it but they are not available in Canuckistan, where we are based.

Any ideas?

Check the carpool feature of Waze, the Israeli "social" GPS system bought by google.

I would love to use that as I use Waze constantly unfortunately that feature is only available in the Bay area.
