Flight/Travel Maps

I'm looking to create an image of a flight map with multiple segments. I used to borrow the image from vayama's website until they removed the interactive map from their design. Just looking for something clean and simple, maybe even overlaid on top of Google Maps. Any good freeware that you know of would be great, thanks.

Attached is an example:http://s17.postimage.org/6bkicgnm7/2..._5417143_n.jpg

Yes, I want to know too! Can't really think of one of this moment besides the airline mapper tool. And anyone knows (I think it was vayama too), or the bt-store that shows 3D seat map... anyone knows do they still have it...? Thanks

How about Great Circle Mapper? www.gcmap.com

OpenFlights is OK but the graphics are pretty basic.

I took a look at FlightMemory and it doesn't allow you to do multiple segments (especially domestic/international flights). I plugged in ATL -> MSP and MSP -> YYC and they were displayed on two different maps (one domestic and the other on the world map). This was all one trip. I wanted to show them together.

I know these are two options and they kind of work...but does anyone else have any other good tools? Thanks.

Not sure what you are looking for. You did look at the geographical base layer overlay option which a Google Maps high altitude Satellite view, correct?
And Item #26 of
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...=718986&page=2
states
" Give your flights a spin in 3D on Google Earth
Feature of the day: OpenFlights now supports 3D mapping through Google Earth!"

For me, the ultimate flight map tool for multiple stops at international destinations would be something similar to the 'get directions' on Google Maps, were I could drag destinations from one route to another, or one sequence of stops to another. I've got 7 weeks in SE Asia coming up and with the number of potential destinations/sequence I have brain overload.

gcmap.com is the best I've seen. It draws accurate great circles and you can control which type of map it is, where the centre is and various other aspects. If you know the syntax -- which afaict isn't documented but you can find examples from the map-of-the-days from the past -- you can add ranges and various marks and control the colours and other bits. It's not user-friendly but it is powerful.

Map Tool Website

Have a bunch of flights coming up and want to input the cities I am going to into a map and obtain an image in a graphical view of all my flights. Anyone know any sites besides the great circle mapper?

Hi

www.jetitup.com has a map showing all your future flights. You have to enter the flight details, not just the cities though. Once added, the map shows up in the Flight Center, under the Future Flights tab - I guess you could take a screenshot if you wanted to save it somewhere.

Hope this helps

Stu!

That's a fascinating site, it definitely appeals to my OCD. Thanks Stu!

That's great to hear, glad I am not the only one :)

Hey ASUDan130, you could put all of the different airports onto a travel plan @ wishbeen . That would put them on a map connected with lines showing distance.

You could also throw in some other travel related things.. for me at least being able to see the actual locations of the places I want to go makes it easier to figure out what hotels and transport I will be taking.

Hope it helps. ^

Cool stuff - can you import from Open Flights? What features do you have that Open Flights doesn't (aside from the fact that your graphics are quite a bit nicer!).

Good work and good luck.
