But time marches on; perhaps it's time to give WorldMate another try.

Or maybe not. I did a similar test about six months ago. WM still choked on a regular basis. TripIt rarely does. Note: I don't think it matter for inputting quality, but I have the pro and gold versions.

I would respectfully suggest you may want to try again. I've used WM for 10+ years and have zero complaints. I wanted to give TI pro a try since I've read so much about it. Here were my results:

I entered 5 trip itineraries by sending my confirmation emails to [email protected]nd the same 5 to WM's similar email address. My confirmations came from our corp travel agent and included flights, hotels and rental car information/booking confirmations. In all of them, TI Pro mishandled/labeled the confirmation numbers for the hotels and rental cars by swapping them. Every time. These bookings were made over the span of a month. WM handled them flawlessly - not one error or piece of info did I have to correct.

WM notifications also came sooner than TripIt Pro, so I had connecting flight info immediately.

YMMV, but my results were as recent as booking a flight 2 weeks ago, and trips that ended yesterday.

I've done this numerous times and my results were the same test to test, but different from yours. I think the choice between the two is like the Coke and Pepsi thing. Depending on what type of itineraries a person has and how they are formatted, one product may be better than the other. The best advice is for each person to figure out what works best for them.

I'm not married to TI and used/liked WM for a long time. If WM works for others, that's groovy. In my case, TripIt gets it right every time and I ain't gonna fix it until it's broke. :D

Just realized that I have a free year of WorldMate Gold from my MilePoint premium membership, so the two trips I have coming up (covering multiple hotels, airlines, countries, and booking agencies) will be a pretty equivalent test of how WM and TI perform for my itineraries. I'll see how it goes!

Liked both but overall, I am happier with TripIt. Just prefer pricing and interface, etc.

Yep, me too. I particularly value TripIt Pro's ability to find alternate flights and show me how many seats are available in each class of service when things to upside down, the airport (terminal, weather conditions, etc.) lookup, and the interface with FlightStats (which imports your flights for easier tracking). The seat tracker function - with an alert when a desired seat opens up - is also nice.

I'm getting used to the new layout, but it's easy to use and works on a variety of platforms (phones, tablets, etc.)

A few days into my WorldMate vs. TripIt comparison, I've already run into a key difference: TripIt supports itineraries with multiple passengers and multiple flight segments within the same flight entry. WorldMate seems to have no way to store info for multiple passengers traveling on the PNR, and it seems that WorldMate adds each flight segment as a separate, independent entry instead of as a list of flight segments tied to the PNR.

I discovered this after forwarding two confirmation emails that I received from Avianca. I booked myself and a companion on the same PNR, but Avianca sent separate confirmation emails. TripIt combined both emails into the same flight entry (and listed each passenger on the PNR along with their FF# and ticket number), but WorldMate rejected the second itinerary (the one for my companion) because it thought it duplicated the first. It was then that I realized that WorldMate doesn't seem to have any way to store info for multiple passengers. The vast majority of the time, I travel solo, but considering how mature WorldMate is, I'm surprised this functionality is missing. This inability to store the info hierarchically (as it appears in the PNR) might be a deal breaker for me.

I've noticed a few other significant differences, too; I'm keeping a list of everything I notice. I have a trip coming up in a few days, so I'll soon be able to evaluate and compare the flight tracking functionality.

Hertz Gold has served me well.

I don't understand the benefit of free Hertz Gold. It's free on the Hertz website? Or does TripIt Pro give you 5* or higher?

I'm in the process of testing Tripit and Worldmate

Any updates from anyone who has used both ?
