Using an ExpressCard 54 in an ExpressCard 34 slot

Oh, wise ones, have I got a question for you!

I have an ExpressCard 54 device (TV tuner) that I would like to connect through an ExpressCard 34 slot (different laptop). Since the connection on the end is the same, I thought it should be fairly simple to find something that extends the connector so it fits in the ExpressCard 34 slot. However, I haven't been able to find anything. (I know it will make the card stick out a lot, but I don't really care.)

Did you mean you have a 34 that you want to put in a 54 slot, and you want some sort of adapter to make it fit properly?

Otherwise, you're trying to put a round peg in a square hole

I think that correctly describes his dilemma.

I've never seen port extenders for Expresscard. I have seen USB to Expresscard adapters, but those usually state that they'll only work on certain devices.

extender cards are used for testing. here's one, but given its price, it's probably a better idea to just get a card that fits.

That's basically correct. I'm looking for something to enable the output of the ExpressCard 34 (which has the same form factor as the output of the ExpressCard 54) to be connected with the input of the ExpressCard slot inside the system.

Yeah, I actually have one of those lying around. They just connect USB-based Express Card devices to USB ports, which is the limitation you mention.

Yeah...that's what I'm looking for, for about 5x as much as I'm willing to pay.
Thanks, though.

No, neither of those convert Expresscard 54 into 34.
