Thanks for the comments... I am a Verizon customer, and would jump on the new BB Tour as a global capable phone except that it lacks wifi. So I am thinking the HTC Ozone will provide the features of a smartphone with built-in wifi. The rumors are that all future Verizon BB products (Storm 2 etc.) will include wifi.

Would be good of Verizon to allow wifi... biggest reason (them limiting the features of their phones) to me dumping them... :td:

Wifi usefulness in your mobile phone depends on the individual. If you constantly need to check your email, log to YM or MSN then its important. If you need to browse websites then it's pretty much tiring especially if you have screen smaller than 3.5".

If you make voip calls then its pretty useful too. I have wifi on my phone but I usually use it only on making voip calls because browsing is nearly impossible for my 2.8" screen.

I have a Verizon HTC Touch Pro 2. Wifi works great but eats battery power for lunch. Just awful.

Worse yet is the Windows Mobile operating system (what a POS), but I digress.....

I think it's very useful. It's generally more reliable and cheaper than using data plan. Wifi is more or less everywhere so why not take advantage? I use it mainly for reading news and downloading bigger files.

If you travel internationally, wifi can save massive amounts of money: not only can you use it for data tasks, but you can also make VoIP calls.

However, if you are normally in the same country or otherwise covered by an affordable data plan, then maybe it's not so useful.

Wifi is excellent for roaming abroad!

Assuming you are in a place with reliable internet access, it's great.

I use and appreciate it daily, getting my email instantaneously, looking up locations via gps... very helpful imo

WiFi a must-have

IMO WiFi is a must-have on all phones, especially 2G. even 3G

I use it on a 2G Blackberry (Curve 8900), and its invaluable for app downloads, content updates (news feeds), video/audio (Pandora works much better in WiFi), and online backup.

Would be great if more carriers supported VOIP over WiFi - this would address low-signal issues for many (including possibly iPhone4).
