Nokia E75

Any FTers use this phone?

cressers Jul 9, 2009 2:53 pm

I work for them, but yes, I have been using this phone for several months and really like it.

I liked the E71, but was quite big. I like the fact with the E75 thats it is a solid, compact phone, but has the keyboard when you need it.

Battery is awesome, and there are now quite a few good apps on store.ovi.com

Let me know if you have specific questions.

When the hell is Blackberry making a return to E Series? ;)

Just kidding... and have I seen you down in Plevna before? Not that people generally remember much after a night in Plevna :D

Blackberry? Have you tried the free MFE? ;)

Maybe, have not been there in a while :) Although the beer can be good.

Employer is wedded to Notes :( It's blackberry or nothing. My E61i is looking decidedly long in the tooth now...

s60 supports lotus notes email sync natively. Agreement was signed with IBM last year.

Needs company IT department support, unfortunately... :(

Will keep working on them ;)

Hmmm that I do not know. Have you downloaded the lastest Nokia messenging SW?

I have been using this and it works VERY will with my gmail.

With regard to accessories, I am not so sure. Car kits are typically bluetooth now, and so the existing ones will work perfectly - remote sim access means you can leave the phone in your pocket and still scroll through the phonebook.

Pouches, again, not so sure - have a look through some other new products, I am not so sure if we always make these for products these days, but to be honest I dont know for sure.

Nokia conversations is a great place to find info and ask questions, have you looked there?

My company finally opened access to this (driven, annoyingly, by the release of iPhone support. Humph)

It's... not bad. I like that it works over wifi. I don't like that it apparently can't use Destinations as its connection point, meaning I can't have it connecting to whatever wifi I'm near (home, office etc) without reconfiguring it. Its support for remore address book lookup is... confusing.

Umming and aahing now between E72 and a Blackberry when my E61i finally bites the dust. Couldn't get on with the E75 - I just don't like how it feels. Don't know why not.

I have had a BB 8310 for 3 years now, no complaints.
Except it got wet (soaked) and canīt use mp3 player, camera, video camera, but email, phone, etc works fine.
Wanted a wi-fi capable phone so I purchased the E71 (unlocked, US version from amazon.com) and I am very happy with it.
I also used an unlocked E75 for a day and I prefer the E71.
E75 feels a bit heavier, thicker and personally I want the keyboard ready to use, not hidden.
The phone is great, the OS is very fast and it has all the features I like in a phone. The wi-fi and GPS are incredibly fast and accurate. Its nicer, sleeker, the camera is better (not great, better than BB8310). The quality and feel is much better than the "plasticky" BB.
However, in my humble opinions, there are some cons:
- it takes a long time to set the MFE working. With BB, its muuuuuuch faster. In my case, setting up the exchange mail took me hours of work + several questions to the IT department.
- BB is more "famous", there are more applications and things to add than for the E71, for example Facebook (you can get it for e71, but not dedicated).

In any case, itīs my first Nokia and Iīm impressed with the quality of it.
D.

any update on when we can expect the new ovi map with updated features (complimentary navigation) on E75s? I have been a happy Nokia user, this would def. make me happier for my international adventures :)

In that case, I'm sure you will be very popular here.

May I ask what apps you like the best on the Ovi store? I ask because I currently use an N97 mini and a N900 (primarily in the US) and while I have been a diehard N-series fan since the N-95-8GB was launched, I must admit that I am a little disappointed with the number of apps available for my phones.
