Macbook battery
 

Hey'all
My MB is almost 3 yrs old but sth REALLY weird has happened recently. It no longer hibernates and when the battery runs dry and the comp simply goes off rather than goes to sleep by itself. I'm wondering if MB has a reserve battery (clock style) and mine have gone dry.
I took it to the genius bar and the reception guy was telling me they probs will give me a new battery for a lower price. (My batt isnt one of those that was recalled) Should the tech simply swap it for me actually?
I still have the warrantee...

no idea, I always carry a spare MB battery, they are worth the investment. When I took mine in they told me that those batteries are only good for some really low number like 200 or so cycles, meaning they should only last for a year or so anyway.

I took my Mac in at about 26 months and complained about the battery life. The Apple store actually swapped out my battery. And a month or two later I took in my wife's and they did the same thing. We did have the three year AppleCare plan on both-- now expired, unfortunately.

I know the new MacBook Pros are supposed to have a longer lasting battery. The previous ones, according to Apple, are supposed to hold up to 80% charge at 300 cycles.

I got over 400 cycles before i replaced mine. It may be time.

I've had about 300+ on a 2+ year old MBP. I find that if I let it drain completly, once a month or coupla months, let it run DEAD, let it SIT AROUND dead, and then plug it in and charge it overnight, I get back to at least 90% of original design capacity.

I might pickup one of these, flat polymer (like the new apples) good for over 1000 cycles, and it is good for ALL macbook models, with magsafe. So, it should have a life after my current hardware goes to the .bay. I'll wait till they are 200$ shipped and click it
