Locked (UK) iPhone with US AT&T Sim card
 
Does anyone know if this will work, or do I need to unlock the iPhone? Given AT&T's pay as you go pricing and 365-day expiration if you purchase $100 top-up, it seems like this might be a good option.

You will need to unlock it.

Unlocking is actually pretty easy and you can probably do it yourself unless it is an iPhone 3G running 2.2.1 firmware.

Also, keep in mind that there is really no good pay as you go data option in the US.
