Laptop battery brick
Travel Technology,
I don't know what to search for so apologies in advance... I'm traveling *shudder* in Y long-haul. There was a fuel dump trick that was too good to pass up. What can I get from Radio Shack or somewhere else that is those flat like battery boards that I just place underneath my laptop for more power? I then just plug in my laptop into that??? Thanks! |
We would need to know your laptop model for some more info about your battery, though is most cases, the little extra chargers that are designed to power things like iPods and Cellphones don't put out enough juice to power a laptop. With that said, there may be some more specific models designed for a specific computer brand or model. You can always just buy a second battery too.

I've seen people mention batterygeeks.net as a great source for external battery packs. Apparently, these can power your laptop for at least 5+ additional hours. They can get pricey.

Ah, here we go: http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/001641.php I'm very happy with it. I used it on an SFO/HKG flight to watch a couple of movies on my laptop. I didn't come close to exhausting available power. It has an indicator light showing approximate charge, an on-off switch and a cable that allows it to be used while it's charging. It comes with a variety of tips for different laptops and, as I recall, either has built-in USB ports or an adapter that will let you run USB devices from it. Well worth the money, in my opinion. I bought it went the extended life battery for my Sony VAIO died. Rather than spending $300 for the battery and, in a couple of years, adding it to my collection of accessories that are now obsolete because I bought a new machine, the APC device works perfectly. It also makes a nice heat shield if you're using your laptop on your lap. |

Its a Macbook Air...
I know I know the silly magnetic power cord so I can't use an iGO adaptor. I already have iGo for my other laptops and the Apple AC/DC plane adaptor, but my issue is that I am in whY for this flight and won't have on-board seat power. Is there any alternative to APC Universal Notebook Battery, min. 80Wh capacity and any suggestions for ones that big box retailers (Best Buy, Radio Shack) would have in case I want to return? |
Wow.
They are expensive. APC UPB60 is in the 140USD range anything higher like the UPB80 UPB90 is much more than that... Well...looks like I am NOT using the laptop like I thought I would |

Sorry, should've been www.batterygeek.net, not batterygeekS... my bad :)

Battery Geeks looks to be the best although expensive.
The APC doesn't seem to have Macbook adaptors. |
