iTouch loading apps?

I bought a iTouch when it first came out and haven't really updated it since then. I jailbreaked it. Now I think theres a firmware out there? Whats the best way to load apps on the iTouch? Also are there any good sites for free apps?

If you bought the original iPod Touch you should upgrade to the 2.0 firmware that Apple put out. I think for originally iPod touch users it may cost $10. Once you upgrade to this you will have the ability to download all of the newest apps from Apples own App Store within iTunes. There are 15,000 apps and most of them are free. I am still yet to actually buy one because I am usually well enough off with the free or ad supported ones. Search in this forum or on the internet for reviews of apps people really enjoy.
