Yes, as long as you roam within 3's Like Home network (stated on their website) you will pay the prices that apply in the UK for outward calls and will not be charged for receiving calls.
Obviously still an expensive way for calling back to the US if you are using a lot of minutes, but not as expensive as roaming on ATT. |

Obviously, your basic AT&T Phone Store won't unlock a cell phone. I've got a relatively new LS model sitting unused which would come in handy for an upcoming trip to Europe (Hungarry, Austria, Czech Republic), perhaps requiring multiple "SIM"s. Any clues for a convenient "unlocker"?

I may be naive--but the AT&T rep said all I would have to do is call to get an unlock code. Has anyone had any experience? I am going to look into Hutchison now--thanks to all! :D
Cheers. |
There is a sticky above that mentions all these. AT&T will unlock your phone as long as you are a customer in good service fro more than 90 days. I have unlocked 5 phones from AT&T in the last 2 years. Some of the phones I got the unlock code right there on the phone in less than 3 mins, the others were mailed to me with instructions within 48 hrs. Just call the international customer service number on +19168434685.

Thanks for all the replies. We don't plan on using the phones much at all. We'll be there for about 2 weeks and maybe plan on making a few calls home. I'll look into the tips--thanks for the insights!
The place where the local SIM really makes sense is Asia. In Singapore and Hong Kong, for example, it works out to 4-8 cents/minute versus the AT&T $2.29/minute. That one's a no-brainer, IMO. Cheers. |
