Hidden outdated email addresses on Mac
A division of my institution has changed its email addresses to a simpler format (it's about time!). I use the Mac Mail program that automatically pops up possible names/email addresses when I type in a name (or part thereof).
Although they have been deleted from the institutional system, the old email addresses still show up on my work computer. They are not in my address book. Any suggestions as to where they are hiding? This is a real nuisance. Although I try to be sure to select the new address, occasionally I get the old one and find out only a day or two later that the email did not go through. |
I remember seeing how to do it on a web site a while back. I should look it up because I need to do it too.

Wow, it's frightening how many fake seeming addresses are in there. Things like fkgk6t&[email protected].
Thanks SBM! |
This was really helpful for me. I recently switched to mac and imported zillions of emails. This allowed me to clean up all my old email addresses going back several companies that I worked for (and email address changes associated with acquisitions etc.) and all my old addresses that changed as @home.com became @attbi.com, to @comcast.net--all of which no longer apply for me.

As A long time Mac User
Not being able to "SPOTLIGHT" previous recipients seems to be a very overlooked feature. Especially when you switch jobs or when people have multiple addresses they have used through the years.
