FlightTrack - Real-time flight tracker maps on iPhone touch
 

Hello,

I'm a travel lover and an iPhone & Mac OS X developer by day.

I wanted to give a quick plug for FlightTrack, a new flight tracking app for iPhone and iPod touch. It's helpful for tracking your own flights and itineraries while on the go, or keeping tabs on family and friends en route. In addition to a smooth, intuitive user interface, it features cool real-time flight maps so you can see exactly where your flights are.

Just to clarify; this app costs $4.99. Normally posts advertising paid apps would be removed, but I figure plenty of people here have an iPhone and have been waiting for an app like this.

I use http://mobile.flightstats.com and Flightaware. Oh, and now also http://mobile.flightview.com, which seems to feed this app. Sure, $5 isn't a whole lot, but as I don't need it all that often, I think I'll stick with the web-based solutions.

What's the verdict on this program, not worth it?

I also use FlightTracker, but don't find it any more useful than http://mobile.flightstats.com

I bought it, and it's impressive. As others have said, there nothing that you can't get elsewhere for free, but it's useful to have it all in one application.

The only thing I miss at the moment is the maps from non-US flights. Hopefully this will be added in a later version.
